Wheat grass is one of my favorite greens to juice and one of my favorite juices to drink in the morning. In this juice, which consists of kale, lemons, and green apples, I always add a shot or two of wheat grass, not only because I love the crisp, fresh smell and taste, but also because of its incredible nutritional benefits and energy it provides.
Just what are some of the nutritional benefits of wheat grass?
Per the Hippocrates Institute of Health some of the benefits include but are not limited to:
1. Contains high levels of chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll helps to cleanse the liver, aids in digestion, and helps to balance sugar levels.
2. Wheat grass contains vitamins and minerals, including A and C, as well as the B vitamins which are help to metabolize energy and are involved in the production of red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen to your body.
3. May be beneficial in helping to fight cancer.
4. Provides a shot of liquid energy that rivals caffeine. Remember that wheat grass contains a wide array of the B-vitamins and B-vitamins help increase energy.
5. When applied topically may help calm skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema.
6. Helps to detoxify the body.

From my own personal experience and advice of others, wheat grass is best on an empty stomach and mixed with other juices so as not to cause nausea. I love a shot of wheat grass with some cold pineapple juice or in my morning green juice cocktail.
Wheat grass can be bought in health food stores in various ways. I generally buy it fresh so I can juice it myself. Other options can be to buy it frozen, or in pill form.
